Montessori Visual Discrimination Cards DIY


Materials needed:

The visual patterns (Right click the pictures below and choose "save target as")


set 1 set 2 set 3
Mounting boards (2 colors)


Step by step

(1)Print a copy of the first set of visual patterns.

(2) Cut them out by following the lines.

(3) Cut the mounting boards into 3"x 3" squares ( you need 6 for each colors)

(4) Paste the visual patterns on the squares (try to place in the centre)

(5) Laminate if you wish (Click here for inexpensive way of laminating)

Sound Cylinders DIY



(L) The "real" stuff. (R) The DIY version.

Materials needed:
12 film canisters, a box to hold the canisters, 6 pairs of different stickers, hot glue/super glue

I used the film canisters, which you can get them free from photo developing shop.

Step by step:
(1) Fill the canisters with different materials (beans, sesame, buttons, ....etc) to produce 6 pairs of distinctive sounds. (make sure you used same quantity of materials in both)

(2) Seal the cover with hot glue or super glue.

(3) Stick the pairs of stickers on the canisters with same materials.
